Prof Abel L. Toriola is the immediate past Head of Department of Sport, Rehabilitation and Dental Sciences, Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa. He has over 30 years of teaching and research experience at the university level and has published over 150 research articles in national and international accredited journals. He is a reviewer to many international journals in the fields of physical education, sport science and epidemiology. Prof Toriola has carried out a number of international research projects funded by the South African National Research Foundation (NRF) in Poland and Sweden. He is rated as a researcher by the National Research Foundation (NRF). He was a member of the Editorial Board of the International Council of Sports Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) and served as Treasurer of the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sports (ISCPES). He is also the Secretary General/Treasurer of Africa Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (AFAHPER-SD). Prof Toriola is a recipient of a number of research grants from the Nuffield Foundation, UK, Botswana Defense Force and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Presently, he is Editor-In-Chief of African Journal for Physical Activity and Health Sciences (AJPHES) that is accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), and a board member of BRICS Council of Exercise & Sports Science (BRICSCESS).
